Book clubs meet once a week and are comprised of five to six students that are pre-selected by me. We are focusing on the genre of fiction for our first book club unit of study. Book club genres correspond with our class novel study with the intention of teaching specific literary elements that relate to a specific genre of book. Each week when book clubs meet, it is expected that each participant arrive prepared with their letter or artifact ready to share. If they are prepared, they will be able to partake in the discussion and participate in the snack share out. IF a student chooses not to complete their assignment for the week, then they will be asked to complete their assignment at their seat and will not be able to earn participation points for book club. Each book club runs on a six week cycle and will have one group leader and one parent volunteer.
